Midwest thoughts

While out on a drive tonight before church I noted some very Missouri things that are still funny to me. For instance, the house on blue ridge that is literally painted from top to bottom like an American flag. Just like Orange County's association laws I'm sure. It also amused me that I could be enjoying a delicious Starbucks from Kansas & while driving into Missouri count five lamas before pulling into the church parking lot. Also to be noted the wonderful "buzzing noise" throughout the humid night air. They are called cicadas. It sounds like war of the worlds out tonight. I thought about gardening as well. In Missouri everyone mows their own yard. Even my 85 year old neighbor is out there in his overalls and hat. I don't think I ever saw anyone but my brother mow the lawn in California (thank you dad for those "it should only take about 15 minutes" chores). Tonight I saw speed limit signs on 4 lane highways of 35 miles per hour. Has anyone ever seen a signal on a fwy? Can you imagine a stop light at say Alicia Pkwy & LaPaz literally on the fwy? Welcome to Missouri we have them. Just a few random thoughts. I will have to post more of the wonderful "Show me" state later. Beautiful weather tonight. A balmy 86 degrees with 80 percent humidity. By the way... I didn't just misspell Missouri on my blog. That is the "correct" pronunciation if you are from here.

What day is it?

It is Monday already? Hard to tell when you've been sick all weekend. Too little sleep + sickie Izzy = sick mama. I am so thankful to Kurto for this weekend. Usually mom's can't take a day off and rest and get better quick. Lucky for me Kurto is so awesome and stayed home to watch Izzybuns while I slept the day away. Literally. Yesterday I took 7 hrs of nap combined and then went to bed. I am much better today and Izzy & I are ready to face the week.

This is the Day

This is the day
This is the day
That the Lord has made
I will rejoice
And be glad in it...

(I am filling in the echo part as I type)

Yes what a glorious day this is. Why you might ask? Well we are currently potty training Israel for night time. No more diapers at bedtime! A few days ago we ran out and being the resourceful mom that I am decided that I would save some $$$. So that was that & Izzy has had no accidents. Then last night around 2pm Izzy got up to go to the bathroom and then decided "hey why not play with cars & my toys because I'm not tired". He has also had a cold which led to an ear infection which leads to barfing from his cute adorable little gag reflex. Ha ha. So after a change of sheets, three trips the bathroom, a cup of soy, some singing and a lot of crying my son and I went back to sleep somewhere around 4:15am. This mornings wake up call was around 6:30 and Sammy came at 8 which makes the day all the more crazy. This of course brings full swing to the coffee picture. I am (was) off caffeine... until today.

Ortega

This is Miss Chrissy Ortega. She is one of my favorites. Lucky she lives in Kansas City! We used to be roommates before Kurto became my permanent roommate. She has loved me, prophesied over me, prayed for me, and even played checkers with me when I was on bed rest with Israel. Everyone needs an Ortega. That is why Izzy likes her so much too. Chrissy & I watch Sammy each one day a week. She took these pics at his first birthday party & I stole them from her. (hope you don't mind Chrissy ).

to the moon & back

Well not actually to the moon but Nashville was far enough for me in three days. It is well deserving of a massive post on everything that the Spirit did and was there at the Call & in to the millions watching. I got chills at least once and hour while there and it wasn't because of the weather (hot as heck & HUMID!!!). I was blessed to see friends from all over the nation. I love having friends who live in different states gather in another state from our current one and somehow meet and worship together as if time has not passed in years. I just love the body of Christ. Wow. God did a lot! My heart came alive again in so many deep and personal ways. I also loved hearing my husband basically give his testimony to everyone who he passed out a flyer to. We passed out thousands of flyers not to promote but because we are personal witnesses to the impact of IHOP and FMA. It was an honor to be a part of this day in history. I seem to have had a concept of what would happen. My mindset was switched. Gathering to fast and pray and worship is not necessarily meeting for revival. It is meeting to call on God's mercy and stand up and intercede for ourselves, our families, our nation. It was much sweeter than I expected. Not all fireworks and miracles. The truth was implanted into my heart and once again the fire was rebuilt in my spirit. That is the work. This was my favorite part of worship & for me summed up my hearts emotions of the Call.
Come be the fire inside of me
Come be the flame upon my heart
Come be the fire inside of me
Until you and & I are one.
