"Remember this. Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, & whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you so that in all things at all times, having all that you need you will abound in every good work. As it is written:
'He has scattered abroad his gifts to the poor; his righteousness endures forever.'"
II Corinthians 9:6-9

I have been meditating on this verse this week. It has strengthened something in my heart of a degree of contentment. It highlights two main things to me. First that it states that God will supply "all that we need" not all that we want. Secondly it states that the purpose of his provision is that we should be able to go forth with provision to "abound in every good work", not for every purpose that seems good to us. It is a supernatural contentment that comes from being content with much or with little. It is a contentment that serves as the basis of a willing heart to serve and follow God with his glory and righteousness in mind. It is not just financial giving here. It is our time, energy, emotions & of ourselves. He in return gives his "gifts" to the poor. What are his gifts? If they were monetary and tangible would he call them poor? Aren't we to be called "poor in spirit" so that we can be given the kingdom? (Matthew 5) Still pondering here...
